OUTDOOR DISCOVERY CAMP

WEEKLY THEMES

ESCAPE TO ADVENTURE - Hurray!  Summer is here and it’s time to get outdoors!  Join us for an action packed week.  Escape to TimberRidge Adventure Center to climb a mountain and paddle across the blue waters.  Discover your wild side to swing on a rope.  Design your own map for an adventurous get away!

OPERATION RESCUE - Help is on the way!  Learn about animal rescues around the world.  Discover what you can do to help animals in need.  Complete a camp service project and meet live rescued animals.

MAGICAL MIGRATION - Wind in their feathers but where to go? Mexico, South America?  Learn about migratory birds, butterflies and mammals, too.   Uncover the magic behind the migration of animals.  Feel the fur of a bison and see a migratory bird.

SHINY SCALES & SLIPPERY TAILS - Discover the double life of amphibians and see the shimmery scales of the skink.  Splash in the creek to find a slippery frog and explore the prairie for a box turtle.  Search the woods, water, and prairie to reveal the secret lives of reptiles and amphibians.

CAMMO AND AMMO - How do animals protect themselves in a world of predators? Nature has given them camouflage and body armor.  Investigate the ways animals survive using their camo and ammo.

WILDLIFE WIZARDS - The forest is a magical place. Sprinkle some fairy dust and wave a magic wand.  You will be enchanted by animals real and pretend.  Practice a magic trick and see the wildlife wizard in action.  Fairies, elves, and wizards are sure to delight the imagination.

WHO’S BUGGING WHO? - Explore the secret world of insects. Go on a bug safari to collect and marvel at the diversity of the six-legged species.  Discover why we depend on insects and learn about the web of connections.  We will be as busy as the bees when we study insect teamwork.

HEROES OF HISTORY - Celebrate the great stories from the past.  Go trail brazing like Daniel Boone.  Take aim with Annie Oakley.  Explore the West with the Pony Express.  Discover secrets of survival from the American Indians.  Explore the forest and prairies as we imagine who walked this land long ago.

ALL WASHED UP - It’s everybody’s favorite, Water Week!  Have a blast exploring our water resources.  Learn about the water cycle and meet aquatic critters.  Take a dive on the slip’n’slide and swamp a canoe.  Have a party on the beach and do the limbo!

CAMP MEMORIES - Summer ends with lasting memories and friendships from camp.  What is your fondest camp memory?  Favorite songs, stories, animals and games will help us reminisce of a summer filled with laughter and fun.  What will you show off in the annual talent show?
