Black-capped Chickadee
Parus atricapillus
|
You may recognize this bird by its calling, "chicka, dee, dee, dee." The Black-capped Chickadee uses this call when it is the first bird to alert others when there is a predator in the area. This bird is primarily an insect eater, but will feed on sunflower seeds or sunflower hearts in the winter when insects are in short supply.During the spring while walking along the trails in Ernie Miller Park you will hear a rising and falling song of the Chickadee as it searches for insects. |
